Many newly built home now come with a standard trash and recycling bin under the counter.  With the recent housing boom, many people that have bought new houses now have the ability to easily collect bottles, cans, and paper in their house, and then take it out to the city recycling bin.

If you do not have a new home, it does not mean that you can’t still do you duty to recycle.  Start by going to your local Wal-Mart and pick up an extra trash bin, and then tell the family it is time to start recycling.

Glass is a clean alternative to buying products in plastic or in carton.  One, you can always recycle glass, or you can re-use it.   Some companies go the extra mile when using glass.  Longmont Dairy Farm in Colorado still delivers milk in glass bottles to your doorstep.  They have always used glass bottles because it keeps the taste of the milk as fresh as possible.   They collect the empty bottles every week, take them to their plant, clean and sterilize, then refill.  The milk never tasted so good, and the waste does not exist like milk you buy at the store.

Many business and homes now have trash can for recycling.  But the recycling at the office is often overlooked.  Think about all the paper an average business uses today.  Then think, not every business has a recycling program.

RedFusion Media is an average business with about a dozen employees that did not have a recycling program.  “We have a wonderful downtown office location, in a town where all the homes have recycling bins, but our building did not have a recycling bin,” said Molly Burgess, General Manager.  “So the solution we worked out was to buy about 10 small blue recycling trash cans and place them at each of the desks. We take all of the paper home, where we do have a recycling bin.”
